Working with Survivors of Abuse
In 2005 I took time out of the NHS and was the Senior Counsellor running the 'Moving On' service for survivors of sexual abuse.
I undertook specialist training with Lynne Kayne at the CPPD School Ltd in London.
The lead speaker at a conference I attended who was a survivor of sexual abuse said that the effect of the abuse on her life was like an atomic bomb being dropped. She said the resulting 'fallout' was catastrophic spreading toxicity into all areas of her life.
Your issues may be very complex and painful and you will need courage to talk about your experiences. One of my clients from the Moving On service was over seventy years old when she came to therapy. She had been abused as a child and carried the secret all her life suffering many years of anxiety and depression.
I can provide a safe place for you where you can explore your feelings and share what you may have felt was too difficult for anyone to hear.
Working with Bereavement and Loss
Bereavement can seem an unbearable pain to suffer, counselling may help you explore the trauma of your loss and the feelings which you are experiencing. Your emotions can be constantly changing which is confusing and sometimes frightening.
During the fifteen years that I worked for the NHS I worked with many bereaved people who were stuck in their grief and were referred to me by their GP. During February and March of 2018 I undertook an in depth training in Bereavement Counselling including the trauma which families suffer when a loved one commits suicide.
