I am not starting to work with any new clients as I am planning to retire during 2023.
Hello and welcome , I would like to introduce myself and give you an insight into how I work with individuals, couples and young people.
I was fortunate to train as a Person Centred Therapist over 20 years ago at Strathclyde University when Dave Mearns was the Director of the Counselling Unit and Mick Cooper was the lead in Research. Both are internationally recognised and their books will be on the shelves of many Counsellors.
As a Person Centred Therapist I offer unconditional positive regard, congruence and empathic understanding to my clients. In other words I will always accept and value you, be honest and transparent in how I perceive you and your world and try to walk in your shoes so that I can understand your experience.
While Person Centred therapy forms the foundation of my therapy style I have built upon this with skills from training in other modalities; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Attachment Theory and Solution Focused Short Term Therapy.
I have been working online since lock down in March 2020 and have taken appropriate training to ensure that my clients have an experience as good as they would receive with face to face therapy. It is a different way of working but by no means second best.
Although I have just moved from Surrey to Ayrshire in Scotland I am still able to work with clients from all over the UK and I am delighted that all of my current clients have been able to move with me.
